G'Day! I'm Wayne Howsan, a true Australian horseman. My journey began as a young boy about the age of 10. My mate had a horse down the street that he would let me ride and after seeing my dedication and desire for horses, my parents bought me my own. I began doing Pony Club, dressage, and show jumping not long after. At age 14, I left school, and went to work as a ringer (wrangler) on Koolata Station. ("station" is an Australian term for ranch.) Spending 8-10 hours a day in the saddle, and being the youngest on the station, I learned alot of what I know now from the older stockmen that were eager to share their wealth of knowledge in all aspects of horsemanship and stock work. After a few years, I began breaking in horses at Koolata and Dunbar Station's where the owners recognized my ability and talents with the horses. I started saddle bronc riding and steer wrestling on the North Queensland circuit then went to New Zealand and rodeoed there for 9 years. I bought a 4 year old green broke palomino and trained him to calf rope and barrel race. After moving back to Australia,(with my palomino, DB) I began riding the ABCRA and CRCA circuit as well as help organize the Australia versus New Zealand High School challenge. With the help of some of the teachers and principal, we started the Bowen High School rodeo team out of Bowen Nth Queensland. With about 17 students we competed all over Queensland with some making the finals and representing there country. I flew to America in 2006 (with my horse..AGAIN!) and establishing Outback Horsemanship in 2007. I started the business with two loyal clients, Tim Fitzgerald of Rainbow Farms Inc. , and Chris Campbell of Diamond land and Cattle . Over the last 4 years, the business has grown to have a very long list of  active clients and several waiting patiently on a waiting list. I now reside in Benton LA with my wife Tammy, and our three daughters, Trinity (age 17), Skyler (age 14), and Morgan ( age 10) who are very involved in the business as well. When we started Outback Horsemanship, I offered a service that was both beneficial to the client as well as myself and we have found that it is working very well. I travel from ranch to ranch and train the horses at the clients facilities. Due to the overflowing client list, we have bought a little ranch in Benton Louisiana. Together we all run and operate a full service training/boarding facility. We invite you all to visit our page to view the facility or you can drop by anytime at 1090 Cattlemans Trail, Benton LA.
